Yes, £250 - 300 with parts for cambelt and waterpump replacement sounds about right. Probably would not stop there though as other parts may well require changing when you get down and dirty.
I would advise you do it yourself Paul. Not the easiest of jobs and leave it for a while until the sun comes out(properly) but you will probably notice other stuff that a garage may not.
I am indeed five-less, but I still have my Seven, and a motor bike, (Honda 600) and my E Class Merc estate; so I won’t be walking anywhere.
My plan is to reduce the VED that I pay. £300 for my 3.2L, 6cyl, 160mph, diesel German Panzer, AND YET A 1.8L MX5 is £41 POUNDS MORE.
So the plan is to sell my wonderful Panzer as well and buy a piece of Mondeo poo, or maybe Volvo, thats £145 a year or less. Needs to be an estate and tow because of my work.
I bought the Five because of the Owners Club outings but it seems that as time goes by if it doesn’t involve a meal or a stately home then no one wants to know.
I thought you enjoyed hooning the sport through the village, testing the brakes and terrorising the locals
At least you attempted to be sociable with the local meets which regrettably is more than I have managed since moving to South Devon.
Car tax is a real burden but our 1991 eunos and 1997 MK1 are £265 each. Suprised your sport more money but see that new car tax rules came in 2001. the price paid for owning a real racing machine.
I can still terrorise all the puppies and kittens in the village and melt a few “snowflakes” as this revs to 7000 and even at 5500 sings at 95 dBa, legally.
