Going to the body shop - feeling excited

I bought a 2000 NB as a restoration project, it’s got a totally shot engine and the body isn’t in good condition, it’s had some rust work done in the past but certainly needs more.

Through friends I have a garage lined up to do an engine swap, but first they recommended the body getting taken care of so I’ve been in touch with AutoBodyTec in Sandiacre, Nottingham. They come recommended and used to work at Ferrari. They’ve been incredibly helpful so far (came to my house after work and laid on the ground to give an initial impression of whether it needed booking in or not), and I have finally got the NB booked in. I’m expecting a bill of a few thousand, there’s a fair bit of welding needed, and the rear bumper needs to come off to treat some rust around the rear arches, but I’m fine with that, I bought the car for the satisfaction of making it good, not saving money.

Not a very interesting post I’ll admit, but I’m just really excited to see the project moving forwards, and I’ll report back on AutoBodyTec as we go along

No point in putting a good engine into a pile of rust. Good luck with the restoration, congrats on tackling an NB. I hope you’ll get many smiles per mile once the work is done, I certainly do from my NBFL after six years of ownership mostly keeping it on the road between a couple of bouts of deep rust repairs.

Hi Ryan

Great to see another member restoring an NB …“I bought the car for the satisfaction of making it good, not saving money” …

Been there already with Bullit in previous years …welding etc so :handshake: [and she’s still a work in progress]

But if you have any doubts about this ‘labour of love’ then recommend Art_Tidesco Thread on
