Good Morning, from Yorkshire

Around four years ago, i unexpectedly ended up with a 2 seater convertible. I was looking for a classic car, in particular a Porsche 944, for use on Sundays and to take to classic events.

Unable to find the right car, and with the summer days slipping away, i found myself having a test drive in a very early Boxster, which i ended up buying.

Although i enjoyed driving the car, i was never really comfortable with its reliability and when the top item on your check list, before setting off, is your AA card, this takes away your enjoyment and limits the number of times you go out on those nice days.

After a series of problems with overheating, it was time for a change and i bought a lovely black 2014 NC 1.8 Sports Venture, which i found to be a wonderful car to take out on a sunny day. Reliability was superb, with the exception of a front drivrs side caliper which decided to seize up on the way up to do the NC500.

In February this year i swapped again, this time to a brand new ND 2.0 soft top. What a fantastic car and does everything i could wish for. I’ve done just over 2K miles, mainly trips to the coast, but also a wonderful trip to Islay in the Southern Hebrides and i have plans to finally do the NC500, hopefully next year.

My daily driver is a Dacia Sandero, great car, and i also have a couple of ex-military Landrovers. I’m still looking for that elusive 944.

I am really looking forward to my time with the Club and Forum.

Regards
Gordon.

Hi Gordon,
Which 944 model are you looking for?

Hi Theo,

If possible, i would prefer a 944 Turbo, but might consider a 944S, which i believe was only produced for one year.

Condition is crucial and there are some awful cars out there being sold as pristine. Something we all see irrespective of car type.

Colour has to be Guards Red or Alpine White.

I had a 924 in the 80s, which despite having the early non-Porsche engine was an enjoyable car to drive. It was the 944 that i really wanted, but they were always financially out of reach.

Not in a rush, and money available fluctuates depending on what life throws at you. Selling one of the ex-mil Landrovers would help.

There are a couple currently advertised in the usual places which i am keeping an eye on.

Thanks for the reply.
Gordon.

Fabulous ND Gordon :+1:

Thanks Al.
