We have the rare opportunity to offer a Goodwood track day in the summer this year, It would be Saturday 31st.
Who would be genuinely interested in this? By interested I mean if I were to ask for a £50 deposit you wouldn’t change your mind.
Goodwood is a lovely venue, everyone would get their own covered garage space, well they can probably have about 3! Nice facilities, there is a sausage van in the paddock, but the main café, which is also in the paddock has big panoramic windows overlooking the airfield which is very nice. You can just feel the heritage and you almost expect to walk round the corner and find Sterling Moss or Mike Hawthorn standing there as well.
Total cars would be limited to 44 split into 4 groups. Unfortunately noise regulations mean they have to have to clear the track every half hour It’s a bit of a pain and sort of compels us to 15 minute sessions. However, on reflection actually this is a good thing and should not be viewed as a negative. The circuit is fast and flowing and designed for 1960’s race cars which is very much how MX-5’s handle. It will be a joy to drive, however the average speed will be high. 15 minutes will prevent brakes, tyres and more importantly driver concentration levels becoming an issue and I don’t think the session time should at all be seen as a negative.
I plan to run this day by issuing each driver with a token assigning them to a group of 11 cars. Each group will have their allotted time on track. Entry to track will be by showing the appropriate token for each time slot. So number 1’s will go out on the hour, number 2’s are quarter past etc. However, driver will be free to swap their tokens at any time with other drivers as often and frequently as they like so no one will be fixed to a group and drivers can drive and passenger with who every they want. Also we will operate the change over as one in one out so that the track will not have to be fully cleared during the change over in-between the half hour breaks.

Noise limits would be 98 static with a 96 drive by which is a whole 9.5 dB higher than Bedford so should not be an issue.
Cost woud be £249, although this is a weekend summer event.
