Anyway id seen peter gray mentioned on the MX5NUTZ facebook page, peter had metioned they were based in darlington and he had owned a mk1 and now drives a supercharged mk2 and was a bit of an enthusiast. I called on the saturday and booked the car in for 1pm today, i went down and was reassured that he could sort it out and if it needed replacing would source one from a local breakers to keep the cost down (always good by me). I had to get back to work so he came in the car wih me back to work and he returned with it to the garage.
he called me at 4.30 to say all was well, he had removed the caliper and taken the piston out, polished it up and reasembled it. he deliveered the car back to my work and also told me that he had spotted an oil leak. The car had previously had a leak and had the rocker gasket replaced so i assumed it was from that, he showed me where the oil was fresh and suggested i get it looked into, there was no pressure from him just nice honest advice. i said i was due a full service end of march could it wait and he said should be fine, just keep an eye on the oil level. he also mentioned that by the time of the service i would probably need some front brake pads too.
When i got home i didnt pull all the way onto the drive and i found a small oil stain on the drive completely supporting what peter had said. I am really please to have found a reasonable and honest local garage with mx5 Knowledge and would reccomend anyone living / working in the Darlington area, who like me doesnt have the time / tools / technical ablity to give peter a call.
