Guide on removal Mk3 front bumper

Hi all I have quiet a few stone chips on my mk3 front bumper so I have booked it into local paint shop to be out right again so I’m after a guide on how to remove front bumper I think this will be better than have overspray on the rest if the car and at the same time I can spray the front rails and any other parts which will need protection in winter months thanks also any other tips or jobs while I got the bumper off

The MK3 bumper is not to bad to remove there is a guide somewhere on there, it is literally a case of removing/undoing the front liners (wheels on or off), there are then two bolts to loosen off there, screws on the undertray at the front underneath, two bolts in the grille either side of the number plate, and finally remove the bolts sitting at the top below the bonnet.

Although saying that depending on colour I would be very very careful about just getting the bumper sprayed alone in case of slight colour difference it is going to be impossible to do a blend otherwise without the car there.

Hi ninja the coulour is brilliant black paint code showing only one A3F so views on leavening it on or just take off and then refit it ?

I would leave it on and do a blend with it being a metallic, plus additionally on a front bumper it will be hugely obvious if there is a slight colour difference and other issues are the flake direction.

Still can’t find the guide to remove front bumper on mk3 I did see it few months ago but seam to have lost it can anybody find it for me thanks

Try here, written for LHD and US spec though can’t imagine there will be much if any difference;

I have just had a brand new bumper sprayed before fitting to the car, but took the car to the paint shop to be colour matched.

The original paint can fade or change slightly due to sunlight, aggressive cleaning or any number of other reasons which means that unless colour matched the new panel may not be exactly the same shade and could stick out like a sore thumb.

Front bumper removal is part of the front fog lamp install, there is a guide in the Downloads section.
