Technical help with ECU
2005 Icon 1.8 vat 16490.miles
EGR failed then Ecu management light stays on.
EGR changed but Ecu is goosed.
Removed Ecu and identified failed chip. No longer made or available in UK and Europe.
Found a donner vehicle with correct numbers and locks etc. and keys however mileage shown on speedo head is 118300mls…
If I fitted the ECU plus Speedo ect. Would the mileage still show 118k or is the mileage figure taken from somewhere else.? thereby keeping the 16k.
I realise I can cancel the light using the code but that only lasts for around 20 mls before returning.
Is there anyway I can reset/adjust the replacement odometer to reflect the 16K.
Note. ECU fail was first logged as advisory 10 years ago then nothing on MOT since then.
Assume code has been cancelled every year since then.
Just need some input as MOT is next month.

the mileage info is stored in the instrument cluster.
Sorry I do not have personal expereince of changing either my ECU or instrument cluster, however when I had an interior swap done I kept the instrument cluster from my original dash.

You don’t need to change the IC, you need the ECU, immobiliser unit and keys from the same vehicle.
