Hardtop Spoiler fitment issues - help needed please!

Hi, I hope someone with a fitted hardtop spoiler can help. I’ve bought one recently from a seemingly reputable firm (it’s made of Perspex/Acrylic rather than fibreglass) for my NA. It’s an OEM hardtop with ‘original seal’…

I’ve followed the fitment procedure but I’m not going to put it on until I’ve seen how others look (from underneath).

The issue I’ve got is my window seal appears to be quite flat compared to other OEM seals I’ve seen. This means that the spoiler can’t sit flush to the seal and therefore only 1mm of the 3M tape would actually adhere to the window - rather than the whole strip.

If it DID sit flush with the seal the spoiler would be pointing downward at 45 deg and look stupid…

So, I need help from people please who have fitted these things properly to see if I’m missing a trick.

Any help greatly appreciated.

This photo is looking under the spoiler at how it would sit if fixed… you’ll see that barely any of the 3M tape would actually be fixed to the hardtop!
Here’s what it should look like…

All the ones I found on line do seem thicker seals.
Not sure how you’d get around that, unless you doubled the tape in the area that doesn’t touch?

It’s going to drive me bananas… but I’ll have time again this weekend to look at it. I’ve invested a lot in the car to make it look mint, so if it’s not going to fit properly it’ll get binned and I’ll have to think about a plan B!

You’re right. It’s got to look the part.
Good luck with it👍🏻
