We recently bought, and picked up a hardtop for our Mk2.5 the other week, and it came with wall mounting bars (but no brackets for the wall). I’ve got a beam that runs across my garage that I can hang it on (as well as a the wall if I could find some brackets.). Though I have a query, or rather a problem that I’ve found…
When I fasten the bars to the hardtop, the brackets don’t line up straight…
The brackets are clamped on properly, as there’s only one way will fit…
I assume the brackets would line up straight? They should be right, as they came with the hardtop. Can anyone offer any help etc on if I’m missing something obvious?
Presumably the missing brackets are still bolted to the sellers garage wall. Is it worth contacting them regards
brackets and how it all fits together. Stands tend to be a tad expensive and on eBay always at the other end of the country I found.
Good luck.
Cheers for that, just bought them. Got 'em for a tenner, which might be a lot for a pair of brackets that I could make, but saves me time and the hood is worth more than a tenner to worry about saving a few quid.
I assume so as everything lines up, as in the side clamps lock onto the bars so the ‘little finger’ things can only be in one place to fit the franken-slots on the hood if you see what I mean.
This (image pinched from fleabay) is the hood we bought, and it appears to be hung up on a beam as I was going to do. I’ve decided it should be up against the wall now so it’s out of the way.
It appears to be hanging fine tbh, but the brackets could still be out of alignment.
