As above has anyone fitted the IL Motorsports braided brake lines as sold via MX5 Parts. Looking at getting some EBC greenstuff pads and braided brake lines for my mk3.5Ā and like the IL as they have the original mounting loops.
Ā
Also does anyone know the brake bleeding order on the MK3.5
Many thanks. Iāve now added this to my mods list think I will wait till the brake pads I have on atm are worn but I do need some better braking performance. Felt a bit of brake fade at the weekend.
TBH I think it just needs better brake pads, but thinking about getting braided lines while Iām in the wheel arches. as Iām also planning on painting the brake calipers as well. Iām either going original silver or white but mainly doing it to make it tidier again they are looking a bit blemished.
If youāre looking to improve brake performance with braided lines and new pads,Ā iād recommend getting yellowstuff pads or Roddison motorsport pads (which Iāve heard very good things about) instead of the Greenstuff.
Well I had Yellow stuff fitted to the front and was recommended just to use the standard on rear. Those who have been in my MX5 have said quote āmy God brakes are bloody goodā
I have recently had the HEL lines fitted and thereās a very noticeable difference to brake pedal feel. Iām using standard discs/pads and I really like the feel through the pedal now.Ā
Iāve had yellowstuff on my last 3 mx5ās which have all been used as daily cars as well as doing a few trackdays; the pads work fine from cold and work well at pace. Will deffo be trying Rodissons next.
Cant say Iāve tried mixing different pads front/rear, in my mind that would risk leading to improper brake balance due to different compounds and different behaviour at heat.
I fitted Goodridge hoses to mine that work really well with a much better feel but it wasnāt without issues, basically the lines donāt fit without modification to support brackets etc so I would avoid them if youāre considering that brand, I reported the problems to Goodridge who acknowledged me but I donāt think anything has changed. Whilst I was at it I removed, thoroughly cleaned/degreased the calipers all round and painted them red, looks nice I, and many friends, think
Just to resurrect this can you tell me how many of the copper washers I need to fit the brake lines and any other parts I require as Iām unsure how many it uses and when I take it apart to find out it will be too late then
