Has anyone fitted IL Motorsport braided lines NC

As above has anyone fitted the IL Motorsports braided brake lines as sold via MX5 Parts. Looking at getting some EBC greenstuff pads and braided brake lines for my mk3.5Ā  and like the IL as they have the original mounting loops.

Ā

Also does anyone know the brake bleeding order on the MK3.5

Ā

Thanks

Ben.Ā

I’ve fitted a set of those and was impressed with the fit.

I’d bleed FR, FL, RL, RR. Then probably go round again in the same order.

Many thanks. I’ve now added this to my mods list think I will wait till the brake pads I have on atm are worn but I do need some better braking performance. Felt a bit of brake fade at the weekend.

Interesting, as i find the brakes are second to none.

On a trip to Burnsall a few weeks ago, I almost missed a turn off, jumped on the brakes and pulled both our faces off.

Although to be fair, i don’t do spirited driving so much.

TBH I think it just needs better brake pads, but thinking about getting braided lines while I’m in the wheel arches. as I’m also planning on painting the brake calipers as well. I’m either going original silver or white but mainly doing it to make it tidier again they are looking a bit blemished.

Ben.

If you’re looking to improve brake performance with braided lines and new pads,Ā i’d recommend getting yellowstuff pads or Roddison motorsport pads (which I’ve heard very good things about) instead of the Greenstuff.

Thought the Yellow stuff was for Track use mainly and green stuff for fast road? or have I got this completely wrong?

Well I had Yellow stuff fitted to the front and was recommended just to use the standard on rear. Those who have been in my MX5 have said quote ā€œmy God brakes are bloody goodā€

That is good enough for me.

I have recently had the HEL lines fitted and there’s a very noticeable difference to brake pedal feel. Iā€˜m using standard discs/pads and I really like the feel through the pedal now.Ā

I’ve had yellowstuff on my last 3 mx5’s which have all been used as daily cars as well as doing a few trackdays; the pads work fine from cold and work well at pace. Will deffo be trying Rodissons next.

Cant say I’ve tried mixing different pads front/rear, in my mind that would risk leading to improper brake balance due to different compounds and different behaviour at heat.

Hi Ben

I fitted Goodridge hoses to mine that work really well with a much better feel but it wasn’t without issues, basically the lines don’t fit without modification to support brackets etc so I would avoid them if you’re considering that brand, I reported the problems to Goodridge who acknowledged me but I don’t think anything has changed. Whilst I was at it I removed, thoroughly cleaned/degreased the calipers all round and painted them red, looks nice I, and many friends, think

That’s my thoughts for looking at the IL Motorsports version as they have the mounting bracket

What paint did you use for your brakes as they do look very nice.

It was Hammerite Red Smooth

Just to resurrect this can you tell me how many of the copper washers I need to fit the brake lines and any other parts I require as I’m unsure how many it uses and when I take it apart to find out it will be too late then :frowning:

Ben.

8 copper washers, as a general rule they come with the kits.

Many thanks

According to the reviews on MX5 Parts reviews they dont seem to come with the IL motorsports ones.
