- My model of MX-5 is: __ mk2.5
- I’m based near: __ Wessex
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __ bulb changes.
Very quick one. Manual says bulbs are HB fitting, the right angle connectors, so I ordered 4 and 3 for dipped and main bean respectively.
Just had a squint under the bonnet, and main appears to be HB, but dipped seems to have a straight fitment, like H4.
It threw me, and add my wife needed the car due a long drive I decided to not much about as it didn’t match expectations.
So, MK2.5 owners, what fitment headlight bulbs have you got?
Main beam in mine is definitely HB3, with the angled connector, but it’s the dipped beam that’s odd. Should be HB4 appears as H4
Getting dark outside now. If i get a chance I’ll see what mine are tomorrow
Just had a look at the packet in the boot and the bulbs are HB4. Hope that helps
Mk 2.5 versions are HB fittings as they are separate low and high beam bulbs, MK 2 and MK 1 are H4 as it is a dual element bulb ( both low and high in one).

Ok, thanks folks. BH Monday will be the MX5 maintenance day, as I have an engine light showing since swapping out the OEM cat for an aftermarket one. I’ll actually take out the dipped beam bulbs and check.
