Having just discovered a blown headlight bulb and the complete pain it is to get a headlight bulb replaced can anyone recommend a good, bright bulb that has a long life for use on a Mk 3 that is driven daily.

These are not marketed as a super bright bulb, but they are brighter than standard.
You can get them at Halfords and you could pay Halfords to fit the bulbs (if you trust them to do that).
