Headlight Dilemma

Hi - Can anyone help? I’m a new owner and the passenger side of the headlight only comes on on full beam not when it’s dipped. I think I might have to replace the unit but apparently, they are difficult to get hold of. Boyfriend has taken it to cornwall and searching for the nearest dealer that might be able to sort it out but with no luck! Can anyone suggest a dealer who could help…

 Mk1 with pop-up lights, or a Mk2?

If it’s a Mk1, it just needs a new H4 bulb readily available from any little motors shop, Halfrods etc and only a few pounds. They have dual filaments so the beam will work, but not dipped if the bulb goes.

Unless it is a Roadster with the original sealed beam unit!

it’s a mk1 roadster eunos…95 model…! Where can i get the unit from? any ideas?

Autolink, eBay, any Roadsters being broken for spares.

OK, Pop up the lights with the button above the hazard light button. Peer through the headlight lens and see if you can see a bulb inside. If you can see a bulb at some time in your cars past it’s been upgraded to “Modern” headlights. If all you can see is a filament then you’ve got sealed beam lights.

If it’s a sealed beam unit I’d say in the long run the best option would be to get a pair of replacment headlights that use H4 bulbs. They’re up on EBay second hand most of the time, Or you could get some new ones from www.mx5parts.co.uk for around £20 each.
