Hi, anyone changed a mk2.5 os headlamp unit? if so advise please. Its not just the two bolts on the top as I thought. So help, cheers
Hi Syd,
Mine is only a Mk II but if they are similar you have to
remove the front bumper also.
You can get away with removing the
4 bolts on the slam panel and the plastic ones ones on the wheel arch. There’s another screw you can then get to connecting the back edge of the bumper to the front wing. This allows you to then
prize it forwards a bit to get the clearance, but I believe the MK 2.5
has a different arrangement for fixing the bumper? :S Could be wrong
though.
Good Luck,
David
You’re right, it isn’t just the two bolts on the top, but you don’t have to take the front bumper completely off either. Undo those two bolts and then the four on top of the nose cone, then unscrew the plastic screws holding in the wheel arch plastics and unscrew the bolt that joins the top of the bumper to the wing. This will give you enough to prise the bumper down far enough to get the lamp unit out. Be aware that at the front of the lamp, on the underside, there are two plastic retaining protrusions that slide under the top of the bumper and they need to be manouvered over the lip of the bumper to get the unit out. There is also a screw at the back of the unit, near the wheel arch holding it in, but the unit can be forced out away from this. Wish I’d known all this earlier this afternoon!!
Thanks for the messages re headlamp, found it better to let my garage do it, was done in a morning and what a differance it makes.
