Headlights don't stay up without button pressed

Hello!

I am having a strange problem with my MX5 mk1 with the pop up headlights.

Basically when I start the car from cold the headlights rarely stay up by themselves and need me to push the headlight button on the dashboard to keep them up. After a bit of time they seem to warm up and operate normally! Also, sometimes my hazard lights don’t function properly until the car has warmed up and I have driven it for 5-10 minutes.

Any idea what this could be? Any help much appreciated, I’m no expert on cars at all!

Thanks,

Chris D

Check the switch between the two middle eyeball vents. When fitting a new radio (common with older cars), the central panel (tombstone) need to be removed, and this switch disconnected. Sometimes its not connected back properly.

Look up instructions to remove the radio etc on miata.net, in the garage section, to avoid doing damage to the panel (there are some hidden screws behind the eyeball vents.
