Hi all,
I’ve noticed that the boot floor (and boot interior come to that) gets quite hot (I hasten to add that there’s seemingly nothing untoward with excessive heat soak from the silencer under the boot)
Have any of you ever put any heat reflective material on to the floor under the carpet ? (I haven’t checked to see if this is practical or not)
Are there any kits available ? (Similar to the sound deadening kits that are available for some cars)
Or am I taking complete rubbish

I had a similar problem with excessive heat in the boot, on further inspection found the rear box heat shield to be rusted out.
Should look like this see link below, mine was rotten.

I got hold of a 3mm thick sheet of Aluminium and had enough of the rusty one to make a replacement.
I also put some tin foil bubble insulation in the boot

I also had a problem with the tail pipes burning the bumper, this is now fixed with a couple of heat shield on the bumper.
If you want photos of my Heat shield and bumper shields PM me.
Hi Steve
Thanks for that. Now you mention it I’m not sure whether there is indeed a heat shield there or not
The car’s up on the ramps on Tuesday/Wednesday for a new set of shockers so I’ll ask my lad to have good look under there and if there isn’t one there, we’ll pop one in. I’ll also look into some heat shield material for the inside under the carpet.
Thanks for the link.

Hi all
Yep, heat shield all present and correct.
Plan B then. Heat resistant material to be sourced. More news as and when.
Hi Dee Pee,
Would you be the Dee Pee from the sylva group?
