Heat shield - Halfords Aluminium heat pait

Hi

I am trying to spruce up my engine bay on my 1996 Mk 1.

The heat shield looks bad and a bit rusty.

what is the best way to spruce it up.

If I sand it and spray it with halfords aluminium coloured heat paint will it look OK?

Has any body else done this or similar?

Any help/ideas appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

We should have clean 1.8 heatshield from Jap car .I can check

Here you go, sanded and painted with Halfords high temp aluminium paint:

Looks great

Autosol and plenty of elbow grease!..

WOW - Both look great.

Does the Cam cover look that good from autosol and elbow grease alone or have you done something else to that,

Cheers

Mark

It’s horses for courses & personal taste, but if you are doing the heatshield, I’d definately  tackle the camcover too.
Im my view, it makes a huge visual impact just doing these two, finished off with a nice set of plug leads.
Trouble is, where does one stop? !!
Here’s mine. Pretty grim & amateur but a first attempt. It’s coming off for a “proper” job now I’ve learned better…from my betters!

I used (big mistake)Hammerite Hammered. It virtually dries on the brush before you can apply it.
I’ve got another camcover following an engine replacement so it’s getting blasted locally then I’ll use Red crackle and pop it the oven when SWMBO is at the hairdressers or summat.

Why paint the heat shield, take it off and polish it up, they can be made to shine.
