I have owned my 2004 S-VT Sport for 3 weeks now and I’m slowly upgrading, fixing and replacing parts as i go. As everyone has probably noticed that the evening’s are getting darker quicker therefore the lights come on.
But I notice that the light behind the drivers side heated seat switch has either blown or dose not work. when i press to activate the heated seat, the Indication light does turn on.
I have done research online and it does seem like i can replace these bulbs, but its very hard to track down where i can buy the correct one.
I had the same problem with mine. I found the easiest way to prise out the switch was by using my nectar card as it is softer than the surround so wont mark it.
Once it is out then on the underside there will be a brown bulb which is a quater or half turn to remove. carefully take the amber rubber cover off the bulb so you can use it on the new bulb.
Thank you so much Blueleaches!!! Ive been searching everywhere for these bulbs. Now that I finally have a name/code its so much easier to source.
Autobulbs direct are the cheapest around but only 1 in stock and I need 2!
Great but I only really need one but thought I would change both while i’m at it.
BTW i tried a nectar card to try and remove the switches but failed also I dint want to break anything. Does anyone have a technique or even better picture of removal?
Regards
P.s Mazda dealers are charging £5.00 for one replaement bulb
Yeah Seem all the one on Fleabay, But are not orange bulbed like the ones installed. Bit worried on what it would look like. Blueleaches could you take a photo so i can see what colour they are please?
I found it easier to slip the gear stick into 4th gear to give some room. Then find a couple of cards in your wife’s purse, and use these to slide in behind the switch cowl. They will need a positive shove but you won’t do any damage.
Then work your way around the cowl. Slowly teasing it out as you go.
Here you can see I have removed the switch.
Then on the underside of the switch you will see 4 lamps. (2 brown & 2 blue)
Brown is the switch illumination
Blue is the switch indication (on)
You can see I have already changed the one on the left as it is a slightly different colour.
The lamp is removed by a quarter of a turn then it will fall out. Here is the lamp. When you buy it, it has a clear lens. I carefully removed the amber ‘condom’ from the blown lamp and pushed it back onto the new one.
Right i finally understand about the orange rubber cover! brilliant! FleaBay it is then. 5 bulbs for £7 seems reasonable, will be giving it ago asap. Thanks for all your help.
The bulbs are different in the NB seat heater switch to those in the NC (pre-facelift, what have you got). Mazda part number for the pre-facelift NC bulbs is GJ6A-66-461.
Hi
Just a update on the bulb situation, I called Auto bulbs direct and managed to get 2 bulbs for a bargain price of £1.25 Inc delivery! (Better than £5 for one bulb from Mazda!!!) Will be installing as soon as i receive them.
