Jamie K on here was in the same position as you - had the car and engine - but I don’t know what happened next.
If I had the money/skill to swap engines that is the transplant I’d go for. Light, reliable, easy to get bits for and capable of truly stupendous amounts of power with a few tweaks.
I’m sure someone will be along in a minute to tell you to just turbo the stock engine - ignore them, embrace the madness.
that sounds like a smoky motor.
Plenty of threads about SR20DET + MX-5 (well, OK, Miata) on the Engine Conversions forum of miata.net.
G’day mate, welcome to the Forum

OK, got to ask - what’s an sr20det engine then?
It’s the well-regarded 2 litre turbo engine from the late model Nissan 200SX.
I do not know what a small charge equates to.

I think it’s about £500/line, or £35 to join the oc…see the smiley…[;)]
Not to mention all the other benefits
that that £35 pays for, it is a real bargain.
Strangely only one at work, but there
both present and correct here. (Think it is probably down the the
restrictive nature of the works computer).
