The sad part about the real life actor Steve McQueen is he died too young age 50 yrs
AND they refused to sell him the Mustang used in the movie 
I mean I named Bullit after one of his movies and I’m not a motor cyclist but who doesn’t remember that spectacular chase from ‘The Great Escape’ 
Movie boffins say Steve was not allowed to use the bike in the escape, it had to be a stuntman. The story goes that our Steve, behind the fence, persuaded one of the German camp guards to hand over his bike and uniform over. Therefore chasing himself!! I really hope that was a case!
It was Bud Ekins who did the big jump over the fence.
Wasn’t he the one who played the Dad in the Beverly Hillbillies?
