Owned a 1997 NA for a while, but only recently join the owners club and it’s about time I shared my love for the MX-5 with others with spring/summer in the not so distant future (counting the days down lol)
I’m hoping to join a few runs and car shows this year, but you won’t see me until at least April whilst I get the car ready
Here’s Mcqueen who is currently tucked up in storage.
Curious how you came up with the name ‘Mcqueen’ as Bullit is named for her shape but also the late great actor Steve McQueen with a nod to his movie Bullitt [I just removed one of the ‘t’s]
Well….as a female …68 yrs in April [with no offsprings that I’m aware of ]
Of course I’ve not watched the Cars movies
Hmm……but as a film buff…..of course I have watched the Cars movies…….[that’s my excuse ….err…you know….research…..for anwsers in quizes ]
In truth Disney Pixar are remarkable with what they produce in these movies…….old lady brain just forgot ‘Lightening Mcqueen’
But thinking he looks more like an NC than an NA or NB …….doesn’t matter……cool name
Influences from childhood ……Disney is entirely responsible for me always having show type Cocker Spaniels due to ‘Lady and The Tramp’ [hoping to get number five this year ]
I used to put it on all the time just so I could watch it again — I really do enjoy that film
McQueen definitely has more of an NC look, but I’m sure he won’t mind being named after a far cooler NA.
As for childhood influences, anything car‑related from the 80s shaped me (the best era ever ). Knight Rider, The Dukes of Hazzard, Smokey and the Bandit, and The Cannonball Run were my holy grail lineup. That Cannonball Run opening with the Countach LP400’s V12 roaring through the desert still gives me chills.
If you chance you can see the YouTube clip of Steve Mcqueen driving around in Ford Puma in San Francisco. I thought it was super cool at the time. How he managed not to knock over the extremely glamorous lady by his driveway as he rapidly reverse up next to his Mustang is all down to
