Hello from Craven North Yorkshire

12th May.
I bought this 2013 MX5 SE Roadster late last year and having been through the first winter with it, was wondering what to get out and about for. What crossed my mind was what activities were planned by the MX5 Club now we are coming out of lockdown. Will there be meeting close by as it will be great to meet fellow enthusiasts?

Hi George, Welcome to the MX5OC and Yorkshire Ridings from East York’s, It looks like you have a good MX5 and it’s in the best colour. Details of local future events should be on the YR web site https://www.mx5yorkshire.co.uk/
The YR members use Facebook to keep in contact. There is a link on here Yorkshire Ridings - MX-5 Owners Club. Sorry I don’t use Facebook, so I can’t answer your question. It might be worth posting a message on the Facebook site. Take care George

Hi Rovergeo

Thank you for coming back to me. I will look over the web site given

Yes it is nice car which I got my friend Slim to get it up on his garage lift and it looks great underneath too. Yes love the colour and I neither use Facebook either. Take care George

Hi George, Did you drive your MX5 on the slippery winter roads? I used mine for my daily commute (until I retired last year), so I bought a second set of wheels and fitted winter tyres, which I fitted during low ambient temp winter period.
There doesn’t seem to be any resent updates on the YR site. The last Newsletter was March 2020 on site location http://www.mx5yorkshire.co.uk/newsletter/ . As you don’t use Facebook, then it might be worth contacting the Area Co-ordination (contact details on Newsletter), to introduce yourself & find out details of any future runs and social events.
Regards, George

Hi again, I’ve been having a look on this MX5OC site and found this diary of events Diary (Future Events) - MX-5 Owners Club
Also I’m not sure whether another attempt at the record attempt near York will take place on 20.6.21 http://www.mx5record.com/
If you want to try a track day, then this event is close to Scunthorpe (if it’s still on) Blyton Club Track Day. I’ve been to a previous MX5OC track day at this location, but only watched the track fun. I can’t attend this event, as this is the weekend my son gets married.
If you fancy trying out some of the previous YR run routes, then could try down loading a tulip map from this site http://www.mx5yorkshire.co.uk/all-about-runs/tulip-maps-archive/
Enjoy your local B roads and don’t forget to give other MX5s a wave.
George

Hi back again, This is the last MX5OC Covid update that I could find on the ‘News’ tab, which is dated Sept 2020 Latest update on the changes to regulation. - MX-5 Owners Club.

Thank you for all the information. I will give the area coordinator a ring and see what is up. I kept the car in the garage during the winter getting out on a couple of sunny dry winter days. It really is a fun car to get out in the Yorkshire Dales. I am exploring the camera angles and putting the results on YouTube. They are such brilliant cars to drive and simply breath taking if your take the open air route in the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District. A whole different view… Thank you once again George
