We (me and my son) are new here as we acquired MK1 1.8.
My son (14 years of age) is in love with mk1 mx5’s. And wanted one for himself to work on.
I knew where one was parked for years, under cover. We went there, and bought it for £1100. No mot, last on the road in 2016, 1.8 manual 82k miles, no power steering, no el windows nor central locking. It does have new hood with glass window, and new complete shock absorbers with springs in the boot made by pedders, new alternator fitted too. Car started fine, breaks were holding a little. Underneath …… n/s seal started to be crusty, other then that body is great, suspension components covered in rust but that’s all. We’ve changed rear shockers and freed brakes, went through mot no problem. After that mid section exhaust has a little hole next to the hook bracket thing. I am looking for exhaust now.
Other then that, car is great, my son loves it.
