Hello, I have owned my 1989 MX-5 for just about a year now. I have owned big V8s (easy in Australia), Italian sports cars (not easy in Australia) and had an MG Midget for over twenty years but none of these cars pleases me as consistently as my MX-5.
It is absolutely original down to the original radio/tape player. Of course it is classic red: my father and I saw the MX-5 when it was launched in Australia at the Melbourne Motor Show in October 1989 and I just fell in love with the classic red example on the podium. We had owned MGs for years by that stage but this car challenged all our prejudices: it wasn’t English, it didn’t have wire wheels or twin SUs but we both admired it.
Now I simply adore it.
