So approximately 2 weeks ago, I passed my local Mazda showroom whilst out on an early morning walk and approximately 4 hours later I’d paid a deposit on a beautiful MX-5 (2020 MX R-Sport) which is sat taking pride of place on my driveway.
I’m obviously still very much in the honeymoon period and am told by a fellow MX-5 owner that I will be for a long time!
Still getting to grips with it and I’ve already managed to drain the battery on it resulting in the loss of the sat nav and speed limit notifications on the display Booked in at my local dealership later this week to have it fixed.
She’s a real beauty and a complete joy to drive. Can’t wait to test its capabilities over the remaining summer months whilst wearing a huge grin on my face
Two things to try on the satnav. Remove the card (it’s behind a little cover in front of the gear lever) and reinsert it.
If that doesn’t work then reboot the system. With the ignition on and the head unit powered up hold down the Nav, Mute and back arrow buttons on the control panel. After around ten seconds the screen will go blank so you can release the buttons. It will then do a reboot.
Hope you enjoy your first MX-5. Be careful though they are very addictive I speak from experience as I now have two, don’t tell the wife .
First thing to remember like all modern cars, if your playing with any of the electric toys, radio satnav the likes have the engine running as the battery capacity and the loads on them are just too much for periods without having the alternator running to keep things topped up.
Nice.
Did they foot the bill for a recon/new Ray nearside alloy with the curbing? Those Ray wheels aren’t cheap, and I wondered if they put a new one on prior to sale?
Congratulations and welcome, only 150 of these were made. I have the same model, which I bought a couple of years ago from a Mazda main dealer. The only issue I’ve had was spider cracking of the infotainment screen, which was replaced under warranty. I agree that these cars are just a joy to drive. Enough summer left for you to get used to it and have some fun.
