Hello I have a 1993 K Reg white Mx5 and i have checked the drivers door shut and under the bonnet for my paint code and its nowhere to be seen? I believe that the paint code was covered with a service label from mazda! Am i right in thinking UC is the correct paint code for my car?
Because i believe that Chaste White and Crystal white are used from 1993 onwards? So im slightly confused as to what paint code is mine
So if anyone has any idea what it could be that would be extremely helpful
Thank you!
Mines is on the sticker on teh driver’s side door - 2000 NB, might try there if not on the VIN plate
The car is old and the original paint has faded. If the intention is to buy the same paint in order to paint a part (like a door or a mirror) it wont be the same colour as the rest of the car. Your only option is to get it scanned and get a paint colour matched to the paint that is on your car.
Get it scanned how exactly?
companies who mix paints for the trade. Similar to the likes of B&Q that they have the ability to scan a and prepare a custom paint for you (rather badly) they have a scanner that you can take for example a piece of the car (for example the fuel cap) and they can scan it and prepare the paint accordingly. I know it works because the guy who respray my PHRT hood did exactly that.
For reference, UK spec VIN plates on Mk1s never included the paint code (strangely, LHD EU cars did)
In the absence of a door sticker, see your local Mazda dealer.
How does white fade?
The paint doesn’t fade. The top layer oxidises.
The spectrometric paint matching still ultimately depends on someone weighing paint on a manky, paint splatter scale, that’s never been calibrated in its life, and where a lolly pop stick is used for mixing.
yeah my door sticker looks like it has been ripped off from what I can see so I will 100% be going down to a mazda dealership and speak to them about it even though I now know the answer to what paint code is mine

Crystal white (UC) is just that , a bright white in your face, chaste white (PT) is not as much in your face, and a bit duller with having a yellow in the mix

I get my spray can’s made up by Grove .car paint supplys to the trade. Just take your car along and get them to colour match. Only take’s about 15 mins to get a can made up cost £15.00.
