Help! I need a boot rack that fits a Mk 3 with folding hard top!

Hi Everyone and this is my first post

My wife and I have escaped Xmas and New Year at home this year and will be going to France/Spain for the duration - even with our Westie!

I’d love to take the MX5 but storage space is obviously an issue.  Harpy to fit a boot rack or boot bag but everyone I have spoken to so far starts sucking in breath and says ‘Dont ever do that with a folding hardtop’ Not really the answer I wanted!

So has anyone successfully done this and what did you use.  I realise you cannot operate the roof with anything on and the consequences of damaging the motors is an expensive exercise.

Revo suction boot rack or boot bag look like my options but if not then I’ll be going in a very boring Quasquai for the trip  

Any help for a novice MX5 owner appreciated.

PS I have seen other posts on this subject but couldn’t see anywhere that someone states categorically that they had found  a solution with the folding hardtop.

How long are you going for? I’ve done 3No one week away trips with no need whatsoever of a boot rack. You might be surprised just how much you can get in a mk3 boot. We came back with clothes we hadn’t even worn.

I’ve seen it done. And the guy nearly broke the roof when he forgot it was there and went to open the roof. If I remember rightly once he arrived at the destination and had got rid of the luggage he could open the roof although may have had to slide it backwards a bit first.

Eighteen continuous nights away here last year with just the boot luggage, as above it’s surprising how much you can get in there and we brought back unworn clothing.
