As the title says… I’ve just bought a 1990 eunos 1.6, and from what I’ve read they didn’t come fitted with a factory immobiliser. I have no idea when this immobiliser was installed, whether when it was imported or at a later date.
i have just one fob for it, and would really prefer to get another programmed incase I lose this one. photos of said fob below. I know it’s a long shot but anyone recognise the fob?
Correct, its aftermarket. Pretty much all insurance companies will ask you what Thatcham category of immobiliser you have, and many will ask for a copy of the Fitting Certificate, which I assume you don’t have (otherwise you would know what you have). I suspect you will need to get a new immobiliser fitted.
I don’t recognise the type. I had my first Roadster fitted with an Autowatch and it wasn’t like that, my second one has a Sigma and it’s not that either. I got replacement Toad/Sterling fobs which looked identical to Sigma and did indeed work so I guess they’re all the same tech underneath. If you’re prepared to go digging under the dashboard you might find the immobiliser and identify the model from its label as I did.
Might be worth contacting a local Thatcham Approved fitter and seeing if they recognise the model. Worst case scenario as Saz says is a replacement immobiliser - probably around £120.
I’ve had insurers ask for the fitting certificate as proof but my current one didn’t want the info, just warned that in the event of a claim they’d expect one to be fitted. Not sure how that works if the car disappears but hey ho.
