Help! - removal of dashboard in mk3

Hi. About a year ago I bought a silver dashboard unit to replace my stock piano black version, from another OC member who lives in Derby. (He has a lovely red mk3 sport). When I did so, he very kindly gave me instructions how to remove the existing unit. This involved removing bits of plastic and dropping the glovebox and the radio unit. Anyway, I did as instructed and it all went fine. Now I’m getting my piano black unit sprayed a metallic blue, to match exterior bits I’m getting done on my wing mirrors, etc and in due course, I want to install that.

The trouble is, I’ve since forgotten how to remove the existing unit! Is there anyone out there who can help, please? Ideally, if the person who originally advised me reads this missive, I could pop over and I could get a “hands on” demonstration, as it‘s a bit difficult describing stuff like this through another message. I’ve looked on YouTube and can’t find anything, so I’d be very grateful if someone can come to my rescue- particularly if it’s the OC member I bought my silver dash from.!

i’m guessing its from mickAP,

my tip is , dont try to lever the panels out as its suggested , ( chances of marking the panel )

instead thread wire / cable or hook through the air vents and tug it out ( same as removing vents on mk1 but the vents are fastened to the panel  ) its much easier / quicker

That’s a great idea! Thanks for your help!
