Help with paint code identification "racing blue"

Newbie here so go easy! I’ m hoping somebody can help me with the paint on my 1998 mx5.

There’s no ID on the car and the manual say’s “racing blue” (hand written).

All roads appear to lead to 12k and twilight blue but this isn’t the case. mine is darker, almost British Racing Green…but blue - if you get me?!

cheers guys,

Justin

When I had some paintwork done on my MX5 2003 the body shop said that they would need to ring Mazda (assume a Mazda dealer) to get the paint code. I’m guessing but maybe Mazda can confirm this using the vin or other ID numbers on the car. Might be worth a try.

The paint code is marked on the white sticker on the drivers door shut. 12K is twilight blue, racing blue. Different names, same colour.

That’s what I figured, I rang the dealer and they gave me 12k aka “twilight blue”

I had an aerosol mixed up at Wilco and it doesn’t match though, can anyone recommend a place to purchase a couple of rattle cans?

Cheers,

I’ve had reasonable results with the Upol paints from Amazon on a couple of different cars, but as with all these things, test it first like you did with the Wilko mix.  Here is a link to a kit (they also do single cans of the colour)

Good luck

Edit.

It occurred to me that your car might have been resprayed, and so I searched a bit wider, there is a Ford colour Imperial Racing Blue

Good luck

But if your colour has changed over the years under the sun, even this may not match.

MX5 Parts.

Thanks guys, I think I’ve sorted it.

Looking like a dodgy mix from Wilco, I actually bought two cans, tried the second one earlier and it looks much closer. Will see how it looks when properly dry and with clearcoat, fingers crossed!

Thanks again,
