HID headlights on a 2010 NC 3.5 advice needed

Hello all, I’m thinking of upgrading my headlamps to (HID) on my 2010 3.5 NC. 

Has anybody done this before? Are there any pitfalls? Were is the best place to buy the kit from?

Youre going to get comments stating that they are illegal and the car wont pass its MOT

Mine passed no problem and no advisories. Just make sure they are aligned properly and they wont dazzle. I have never been flashed

Access is through the wheel arch liners. There is plenty of space in there to cable tie the ballasts into position

Passing your mot is one thing be pulled by the police and charged with null and void insurance is another by retro fitting hid bulbs to a car that has halogen headlights you have modified your car in a way as to make no longer road legal and that comes from a friend of mine who is a vehicle inspector for vosa and I have confirmed it with our local traffic police
And also your mot can be questioned as your car should not pass with them fitted so be careful most mot tester don’t seem to know the rules fully

i too have gone the HID route

 

as the headlights were already projector lights, they work very well. with no dazzle

all aligned by my local garage

and passed the MOT

they technically are illegal

NO policeman will ever pull you over for it…why would they ??? millions of cars on the road have HID’s… they wouldn’t have time to drive past, in opposite direction…and go…oooh look  that car has HID’s without headlight washers and auto levelling lights .

 

don’t worry about the doom mongers.  just make sure the HID’s are between 4200 and 5500   then they will be a clear white colour rather than the highly obvious Blue tinge

I love them…great safety feature and I can now see MUCH clearer…all cars should have them…  just make sure that they are aligned by a proper garage :slight_smile:
