NB. Chris`s conversion includes crystal headlights which have a shield fitted inside the headlights this takes a lot of the glare off the HID bulb which is very bright in an ordinary open headlight (I had these and was getting flashed by other drivers) the headlights Chris has used has an opening for a side light bulb which you do not need on the MX5 but there is another seller on eBay that sells the same headlights but without the side light opening - these are what I have used.

I fitted these on my MX5 as I have HIDs on my RX-8 and now I find that driving a car without HIDs is like driving by candle light.

Are these bi-xenon, do they have hi-lo beam?

no this just single HID on dip beam although you can get the Bi ones i just opt for the single version but wish i went the Bi option as the dip beam is now brighter then the high beam lol

-don’t think you will pass MOT without hi-beam…

How do you use a single HID kit (what bulb) when the correct bulb is a H4 twin filament - I used a H4 bi -xenon kit and it works fine.

Del.

guys do you know how a H4 bulb works!!!

yes it will pass ~MOT as it still has a high beem !!

a H4 bulb has the dip beam ands high beam built into one bulb the only differance from the HID bulb it has a HID bulb as dip and normal high beam for high and just has a ballest to power the HID bulb

chris

thats right i wish i got this kit now !!

sorry, didn’t realise your kit had a filament bulb for the hi-beam. Not seen this before…

-I think the Bi-xenon is what I will go for though.

Ah! I see now - I forgot about the 2 bulb in one H4`s - get yourself some bi - xenons complete kits only £40 now.

good choice i wish i did now may still do and sell the single kit

-only up the road from me!!

this the same company i got mine from and at a good price

ima get me some of these! i cant decide between 6000 or 8000k, think you get pulled for 8k? lol

The higher the kelvin rating (K value) the poorer the intensity of the light, 6000K has a blue tinge but gives a good white light.

Del.

guys

stick with the 6000k better when it comes to MOT and give better white light stay clear of 8000k as its a cop puller

i thought this too, 6kk it is then! by the way is the ballast a striat plug into the standard H4 plug or is some wireing required?

well my latest kit i bought is my 3rd kit and all have been plug and play pretty straight forward if your fitting to a mk1 you can fit the ballast same places as me:)

sorry got to mention its a mk1 i find the ebay adds a bit annoying but i think im going for this kit!
