- My model of MX-5 is: __30AE
- I’m based near: __Tamworth Staffordshire
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Keep getting green algae on the hood, the car is cleaned regularly and i also use milton on worst areas around rear screen etc keeps coming back. Does anyone have a more reliable method to keep hood clean or know a company that can provide algae proofing?
I use milton fluid to shift the worst of it.
When completely clean - It gets treated with fabsil gold. ( not sure if the fabsil keeps the algae away )
When it gets washed - I do use snowfoam and I let it sit for 10 mins on the roof before swilling it off with the hosepipe.
This seems to keep the roof clean of algae
Sotlrry to hijack the thread but same issue here… i keep finding algae at tbe bottom of tbe hood (see attached) any idea on how to reach it to clean as the roof is too tight to get a toothbrusglh in the gap. Also what mixture of Milton to water to use 1:10?
Just release the hood clamp from the header rail and the cover will become limp. fold it back a little and you can then get to the ‘hidden’ part of the cover.
As Mad_Malc says - release the hood to get some slack.
I use the spray bottles of milton and use them as they come - no dilution.
Spray it on - use a soft tooth brush or soft top sponge to work it in.
Leave it on 10 mins - then swill it off.
You may need to repeat 2 or three times over a few days to shift it all.
