hood replacement near Wolverhampton

Hi all, just taken the plunge and got myself a 1999 1.8 SE and love it. It’s still on its original vinyl hood which needs replacing so wanted to know if there were any recommendations for where to go? I’ve seen in Google the hoodguys in Brum and mxheaven near stafford but that’s about it. I’m sure there must be more places nearby. I’m not decided on vinyl or mohair but pretty certain on glass.

Thanks v much

greetings, welcome to the clan
I used these folks; http://www.thesofttopshop.com/ cos they fitted new hood on my drive. not the cheapest (travelling cost from manchester) but good.
sam goodwin highly recommended mx5 folk - http://www.samgoodwin.com/ near birmingham
another but don’t know them - http://www.thehoodguys.co.uk/

Ace thanks v much. Think I’ll try that softtopshop as Sam Goodwin are a bit pricey for my liking. Think I may go with the mohair.

Hi

I had my hood replaced by paul at the soft top shop, he is a true craftsman

The care he took when carrying out the replacement was outstanding, he has a background in classic car restoration and you could certainly tell.

I went for the mohair hood and two winters on it looks amazing

His knowledge of mx5 is fascinating, I could of chatted to him all day

He came to my workshop in wolverhampton, it’s out of his area, from memory I think he charged me an extra £20 for the additional travel.

Give him a call, if you let him do it you won’t be disappointed

Good luck

Carl

Great thanks v much for the recommendations. I went with Paul at softtopshop. Great work, friendly and great quality hood. Couldn’t be happier with it Smile
