Horn electrical contact/brush on rear side of steering boss

  1. My model of MX-5 is '91 Eunos
  2. I’m based in Norfolk
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on:

Hi all,

The spring-loaded electrical contact for the horn which contacts the back of the steering hub has just started making a rubbing/scratching noise. I’ve tried greasing the back and it’s reduced the noise, but it’s still there.

Am I right in saying that these should have some sort of tip rather than being metal-on-metal contact? And if so, I presume nobody sells this tip separately?

Many thanks!

Yes, they should have a tip. Not sure if you can buy them separately but the plunger does come out so if you can get a really cheap stalk set that’s not working you could swap the plunger.

Cheers for the info, now to keep an eye out for a cheap set of early NA stalks
