Update on the visit to the Hovercraft Museum at Lee-on-the-Solent on 22nd October.
Angela and I had a “recce” visit to the museum today in order to finalise various points, and I can’t believe that I haven’t been to this museum before now, and I only live 5 miles down the coast!
What an amazing collection of hovercraft of all different types, really interesting, and all housed at an old WW1 seaplane base!
The other point of note is that the cafe does excellent tea and coffee, but the selection of food is limited to just snacks.
But we can take a picnic, with associated chairs, etc., to eat adjacent to our cars on site, or stroll across the road to the beach and promenade.
Failing that, a short walk along the seafront to Lee shopping area will provide you with numerous cafes serving more substantial food.
The weather today was glorious, let’s hope it will be the same in 2 weeks time😎

Apologies, but unable to make it as we have issues with our Wren kitchen and fitter is here today
So sorry we can’t make it today, slight family crisis with dog sitting duties, very annoying as l have been trying to get to the museum for ages.
Just home from London, so sadly too late to break out the 5 and motor down to the Hovercraft Museum☹
We sincerely hope the visit went well and look forward to seeing all the photos.

A few photos of yesterday’s fabulous visit to the Hovercraft Museum at Lee-on-the-Solent.
The weather was kind to us, with only a small drizzle shower, which did not spoil the day at all.
The museums volunteers were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable on the guided tour of the many various hovercraft that are in the museum’s collection.
The visit was greatly enjoyed by all and in appreciation, a donation of £61.20 was raised by members to support the upkeep of this fascinating museum.

I have had an email back from Doug Coulston at the Hovercraft Museum thanking us for the positive feedback and the photos of our cars from the visit last Saturday.
He also sends his thanks to all who contributed to the kind donation of £61.20 that we collected on the day, he says " Thank you sincerely for the generous donation. Could you please pass on our thanks to the members? We are very grateful indeed for it".
