How comfy?

Not sure about only fitting in the ST, im 6,5 and fit snugly in my RF, have done many 8 hour plus days with no issues, I do have the recaro seats though.

The driving experience is fantastic, super engine, excellent grip on the road, and if it was not for it being too small and those seats I’d be driving one now.

But a deckchair without proper lumbar support, in a car?

Not my experience and a comment I can’t agree with.

Really depends on your physique. I’m 6’4” snd 17 stone, yet I find the standard leather seats comfortable over long distances. Something I’ve noticed is that sliding back or forward on the seat a little gives a really different feel. Handy on a long drive when you might otherwise need to get out periodically to stretch.

It can depend on body make up, I Had the RF for a weekend test drive before I brought my ST and my head touched the roof in my normal driving position…

One thing I think we can all agree is the best thing the OP can do it take one for a long test drive and make his own mind up…

That’s how I describe them too. No padding, just webbing. Used to give me backache on long journeys but I seem to have inured to it. I love the car but would prefer proper seats.

I’m 6’1" with a long torso and need to lose weight, I previously had an NC which was borderline. The ND2 is definatley tighter. With the roof up my head brushes the canvas and if I bend forward hits the bar in the roof. I do still find the seat comfortable but will be looking to get the Jass Performance lowering rails.

I found I needed the ND2 over the ND1 because of the adjustable steering wheel, this made a big difference to getting comfortable.

I would suggest having a good drive in the ND to see how it feels. (try an ND2 if possible).

I should also add I drive the car 95% of the time with the roof down which makes it a much better place to be.

I had a NC PRHT and now for several years ND and I find myself more comfortable in the ND, I’m 6ft 1 inch with a long torso . The lack of door pockets and glovebox more than compensates for the slightly reduced space. You really need to sit in it to know, as others have said - we are all different .

BTW, the seats in the latest ones are hugely improved

6’3" with long legs, no problem with room for me in my ND. In fact I found it more comfortable than the earlier models we tried, but only on the drivers side. I understand the passenger footwell has a speaker in it which severely restricts leg room, I can only manage 20 mins on this side.

I don’t get it. Why would a tall person opt to live in a house with low beams and ceilings. Rather they would opt for Victorian or Georgian with large ceiling heights. If I was over 6’ would I buy a small motorbike? On the other hand I do sometimes see very tall people in soft tops with their heads above the sunshade - of course that is with the roof down.

The problem is that the MX5 is the last remaining small affordable sports car. Most people who want an MX5 don’t want an equivalent Z4, SLC etc as they’re not as much fun, and a Boxster is bigger, flasher and much more costly to own. Unless as a tall person you just concede that fun in a small sports car isn’t something you can have, you find ways of making them fit. At the extreme end, this is why some people drive Caterhams without any actual seats.

We have peeps from tiny tots to long lizards here that manage to fit themselves in. Being as it’s made in Japan and they have all sorts of historic reasons to have a pop at the ‘long noses’ I’m surprised they didn’t make them even smaller to wind us up even more. …

Yep I slide forward too to get a better steering too and I’m 6’1, just got an ND to add to the NC

Get to sit in one, Spring Rally and Harewood House would be a good time as you’d seen some with Recardo seats which may help you.

I’m 6’1 and fit fine, head always close’ish to top in any one them.
