I’m new to the forum and the club, just joined last week after aquiring my first MX-5, a '92 Eunos in black, 1.6. Lovely little car, only I didn’t get an owners manual with it. I’ve not got a scooby how to adjust the mirrors, there’s no switch and I can’t see a lever or similar. How do you adjust them?
Also, whilst I’m picking your brains, there’s a big red rocker switch on the dash, down by where the imobiliser fob inserts… is this standard? Does anyone know what it does?
Thanks for reading and very grateful for any replies.
Sounds like you’ve got manual mirrors. Adjusting them is a case of actually moving the whole mirror body from the outside of the car - they’ve on a ball joint so can be adjusted in/out, up/down. It’s a bit of a pig if they’ve not been shifted for a while and you need to be careful not to overdo it and end up with a door mirror in your hand but not on the door!
As for the red rocker switch, I’m guessing its in a group of three just to the lower right of the steering wheel? Taking a wild guess I’d say it was being used as a fog light switch… turn the lights on, check the lights, turn on the switch, check the lights again.
Thanks very much for the reply. I was begining to think along those lines with the mirrors, but they didn’t move when I tried. Some gentle pursuasion required me thinks. The fog light suggestion makes sense too - I’ll have a look tomorrow.
