How do i clean the bottom of the roof compartment on a folding hardtop?

  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: _cleaning the roof compartment that’s is between the seats and the boot.

so, I like to keep my mx5 nice n clean.
I wash and hoover it once a week.
however, there is a part that I can not reach.
it’s the open compartment behind the seats that the hardtop drops down into. the bottom of it is carpeted and it is covered in little white flecks that I presume is cigarette ash!

If you start to open the roof but stop it as the rear deck lifts to its highest point, you should be able to access it.

As answered above. I have stopped my roof at various positions without adverse effect. You just have to switch off the ignition every time, to stop the constant beeping.
You might want to clean your roof seals and drains with an appropriate product while you are at it, and watch out for your hoover rubbing on the paint.

Exactly as described above was the way I did mine. Good point about the seals too.
