How do I drain my fuel tank?

Hope this is the right section for this question.

I need to drain my fuel tank.

Tried to syphon but it won’t allow the tube down.

How and where can I drain the fuel please?

Thanks

There is a drain plug reported to be at the bottom of the tank. Was that still there on the MK2.5? Look and see but the earlier cars had one.

The MK1/Eunos has a threaded plug at the base of the tank - very useful but does not appear to have been fitted to the MK2/MK2.5 fuel tank.

I would disconnect the inlet fuel line from the injector rail and pump fuel out into containers - ignition on and fuel pump running.

If you really have to completely empty the tank you will cause yourself problems as there will be contaminants, rust and other debris present. Probably best to access tank directly by removing fuel pump mechanism and syphon straight out. I guess there is a gauze/mesh present to stop syphoning through the filler but a narrow gauge tube may get through for the last bit of fuel or access it beyond main filler tube by undoing union seal in boot.

Why are you doing this Fraz - it will be a PITA to achieve buddy.

Go for a long drive Laughing

Yes it appears the fuel tank is one of the first things to be installed in the car, then the rear sub frame and then the back axle.

Only worth taking out if doing a rear end rebuild with full parts off underseal, coated subframe, arms etc.
