I have a Mk1 V-spec Eunos with the Nardi trim, and recently my gearknob is making a vibrating noise at certain engine speeds…the knob has a little play in it (in the thread?), but I just can’t tighten it up to stop the ‘buzzing’ noise…!!!
Please can someone advise, it does seem to be getting noisier and looser…I can’t see any grub screws in the metal collar at the base of the wood knob, and daren’t turn it too tightly in case I damage anything important…!!! (and if you can tell me which way to turn it as well, it’d be much appreciated!!)
My V-Spec came with a “Lucky 8 Ball” gearknob. I picked up a new Nardi at the show last September (if £60 is picking anything up). It has the rubber section half way up and a plastic insert that screws (clockwise) onto the gear stick.
Hi, I had the same rattle from my Nardi gear knob when i first bought my V-Spec. Mine screwed onto the shaft then had 2 grub screws at the bottom to lock it in place.
I removed the knob (anti-clockwise to unscrew) then got someone at work to turn the same thread onto a piece of bar on his lathe. Held the bar in a vice & screwed the knob on. Then pulled the wooden outer part of the knob from the threaded centre part. Re-superglued back together & no more rattles [Y]. You may be able to pull off the outer wooden part while it`s attached to your car if you are lucky.
I later replaced the knob with a newer Nardi one which didn`t have any grub screws…it just screwed on.
