How to re enable Key

My new ( 2005 NC 2.0 39,000 miles) came with a regular key plus one with remote control buttons. Apparently this key was de mobilised some time ago by previous owner and now I would like to get it back functioning. Its a soft top, im sure that makes no difference.

All help appreciated. The keys all work by putting them in the lock the old fashioned way.

thanks
willie

Try this sequence:
Registering Keyless Entry Transmitters NB & NC

  1. Shut all doors and remove key from the ignition switch
  2. Open drivers side door
  3. Insert key into ignition, switch ignition on, then off then remove key, 3 times.
  4. Close then open drivers door 3 times (all doors should lock then unlock)
  5. Press unlock button twice on the transmitter (doors lock then unlock to confirm)
  6. Press unlock button twice on all other transmitters to be registered to the car (doors should lock and unlock to conform each transmitter registered)
  7. Switch ignition on to cancel set-up mode.

Try this - worked for me when I got my 2008 NC. Had two keys but only one of remotes worked. I know it sounds like a wind up, but it really isn’t

  1. Remove key from ignition
  2. Close all doors.
  3. Open drivers door
  4. Perform following steps within 24 seconds.

A. Turn ignition switch ON and back to LOCK position three times
B. Close and open drivers door three times
C. Door locks should lock and unlock automatically, if they do not wait 40 seconds and repeat procedure starting at step 1
4a Do not remove the key from the ignition
5. Press UNLOCK button of keyless remote to be programmed twice - door locks should lock and unlock after each remote is programmed.- if door locks do not lock and unlock proceed as follows
A. Close and open drivers door once, door should lock and unlock twice
If door locks do not lock and unlock, start procedure over with step 3.
6. Exit vehicle and test remote

Good luck

Brilliant many thanks, Will do tomorrow and report back.
The Key I have is I reckon the original mazda key, however the markings on it are gone.
Would you be able to tell me what the 3 different buttons are , starting from the top where the ring for the keyring is please .

Yes , it does sound like a wind up, but I take it with thanks , pretty much the same as Dipstick suggested.
Ill report tomorrow.

does this help?

I can confirm that registering sequence does work. Just one suggestion though; to avoid actually opening and slamming the driver’s door, all you need to do is leave it open, sit there and press and release the interior light switch in the door aperture the requisite number of times which provides the electrical signal the system needs.
