How to touch up rims

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __Exclusive Line
  2. I’m based near: __High Wycombe
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Touch up paint

Managed to curb/chew up a rim. :frowning:

Will need a proper refirb at some point, but meanwhile I’d like to put some paint on it to give some kind of protection. Wheels are the ‘shadow chrome’ effect here (this isn’t the damaged wheel)

I know the colour is created from a process of layering silver on black (I think) so I just want a colour that provides some kind of camouflaging of the damage meanwhile. I tried BMW’s ‘shadow chrome’ touch-up paint but it’s quite a bit too dark. Anyone found a good/better match? I don’t think one’s available from Mazda?

Interesting that you chose a BMW colour. I have a BMW 5 series painted in “bluestone”. That is pretty similar to the colour of the ND1 wheels, I used that as a quick touch up for light kerbing. Not a perfect match but to my eyes very close.

The BMW paint wass ta recommendation previously from some one on here, so I thought odd give it a try…
