start off with this old pic to remind people about my car
nothing special, but I think I want to see my sill plate better in the dark so I added these today
it may look like some boy racer stuff but I dont think it that way I just think it looks nice
quite simple to install all DIY stuff takes about an hour if you know what you are doing, i took some pictures throughout the process so if anyone interested I can show them
wish you all like it
more to come on my car, red seats, wind deflector, radiator grille!
Appologies to the op, this thread started to go way off topic. You can pick it up again in one of the test forums, I am going to chop out the relevant threads
Looks good.
Are they just the xmas decoration type strips or something different?
I had similar issues to you, so I did this with LEDs
Mine come on when the door is opened. How did you wire yours in? I soldered onto the bulb holders of the internal lights meaning I can switch them on with the doors closed too (not that I would want to drive with them on)
hi halli yours is a mk1 so i suppose you have got lights next to your knees on the centre console right? did you solder yours with that bulb?
my wire connects all the way to the room light at the top so there is a bit of a mess of wire going aound the windscreen, but looks ok i think! mine does only come on when doors are opened or room light is switched on. i am sure some genius here can find a better place to solder the lights like the fuse box (which i dont dare to risk my car) but I am not any sort of electrican head so i guess i will take the easy simple way! mine are LED strips as well(some people call them SMD, try search on ebay for LED strip or SMD), pricy to buy on ebay but i got them cheap in china, about 3 quid each with all wires ready for connection!
i am thinking of getting some LED like yours but not as “bright” as your I am thinking of hiding it somewhere under the seats and will only come on when i switch it on but not anything about door opening again
When inserting images, if you ensure that there is a size in the dimensions boxes then it will work in all browsers - if you put the picture address in the first box, and then click on the description box, it should automatically generate them. Failing that, 640x480 is a suitable size (NOT a maximum size…).
Anyway - Looks pretty good I think. Pictures probably don’t show it off brilliantly.
not my cup of tea either, (bit of an old g-t) but you have given me an idea [I]
if stuck under the bottom of the door and connected to the courtesy light it would light up the kerb area on entry and exit at night, mmmmmh that would be cool.
