I think my MX5 has LSD - could you check burnout photo to confirm?

Hello,
I have bought a 2001 MX5 mk2.5 yesterday.

It is a briliant little car and I cant wait to drive it more.

Now, I want to find out if it has LSD or not (owner didnt know and it was barely used - 5k miles in the last 5 years). I havent yet had a chance to drift it (want to do a full service first), but I am very curious if it has LSD. So I did 2 burnouts as suggested in this forum, and I got 2 lines of rubber. This would indicate LSD 100%, right?

(Lines look better in person, as not the best quality from phone, so marked the lines red:))
I did the test twice, and both times got 2 lines.

Also, here is the sticker from the door side (tried googling various things from it, but couldnt find definitive answer).

Once after service (or if its wet), I will try drifting/getting back out/doughnuts to know if its LSD for sure (or will ask during service), but for now I am still very curious - so what do you think - LSD 100% or not sure yet?

Thanks

Judging by the partial VIN that you’ve posted the car wouldn’t have had an LSD from factory. As a general rule, only the 6 speed Sport trim level and some special editions had the LSD.

Yes, i saw the brochure on some site for mk2’s, however, for 5 speed’s LSD was available as an option, so maybe thats the case here?

What’s the rest of the VIN?

201540

Are you sure that is the correct number? It’s not showing up on the Mazda parts catalogue.

Edit… hhmm, it shows up on another of Mazda’s systems though but says it was registered 12/01/01… Is it a European import?

Full VIN is edited, as written in the service book and the sticker.
And in the book it is also written that it was bought in UK (Tunbridge Wells Mazda) in 2001, so probably not EU import?
Anything else I can provide?

It’s a bit of a strange one. It shows as having had some sort of recall/special service program on 22/03/01 and only showing 10 Km at that date, but no other information is available for that VIN. The distributor field on the VIN search is blank, I’d have expected that to have shown as being MMUK. I’ve got another parts catalogue to check this evening…

Thanks for your help, will wait for your update.

The VIN is not recognised by the old parts catalogue either. I’ll try and do a bit more digging.
