Hi there, anyone running the IL motorsport brake lines and are they any good. Im going to upgrade my pads very soon and thought I may as well treat myself to new lines whilst Im at it.

Just had a look on Google and see that there are several firms offering braided hoses for the MX5 NC.
IL from MX5 parts are £91.87 - Stainless hose, aluminium fittings

Goodridge from Ebay - £74.95 - Stainless hose, zinc plated fittings
Very poor review - “The fittings are the wrong size and the u bend is too close to the caliper.”
…and finally the one I like, especially as NickD who runs BTS is invaluable for his tyre advice on this site -
HEL from Burton Tyre Services - £69 - Stainless hose in various colour covering with stainless fittings.

Thanks for winding me up for this one, I’ll probably buy the HEL ones next month…
I fitted Hel lines to my merc 190 and there seems to be an issue with several aftermarket suppliers regarding the sizing of fittings and the location of clamp hardware. On the 190 i had to make custom washers to support the hoses in the angle brackets on the body. Can anyone confirm if the IL kit for the Mk3 is an easy and straightforward fit and if any extra hardware is needed to attach to the wishbone etc.
I’ve fitted an il Motorsport set to an NC and found them to be top notch.
Just ordered the HEL lines and if they’re anything like what I’ve just fitted to my bike, they’ll be perfect.
Thanks for the comments guys. I may just have to pop to MOT to get the HEL lines and get my calipers refurbed at the same time
Fantastic service…placed order and now dispatched within three hours. You simply can’t get better than that.
I fitted Goodridge ones to my Mk1 and they were fine. The pedal was a little firmer afterwards although I did it because the factory hoses were looking scabby. One warning - when you start removing hoses, ALL the fluid may drain out even if you have screwed the reservoir cap onto a plastic bag to try and prevent air getting in. Have plenty of fresh fluid ready and bleed in the correct sequence - it will get there in the end.
Hi Davy F. How did you get on with the lines? Looking at purchasing the same for mine!
thanks
I actually got mine fitted a day ago. They look really good in the Diablo red and the brakes are significantly better with a firmer feel through the pedal. A good buy.
And am I right in thinking that you got the HEL lines? Did you do them yourself?
Thanks!
Yes, I got the HEL lines.
Nope, didn’t do them myself.
