Hi All,
I’ve been after a part from Mazda for the shifter turret for weeks and in unusual Mazda style, they guy in the parts and serving department is proving to be useless!
I bought the Bushing and gaiter kits from mx5parts last month to replace worn parts as the shifter had lost it’s bold action feel. Anyway long story short, fitted all the part, made no difference, watched a youtube video to make sure I’d done it correctly and there was a Bush and wave washer I’d missed that wasn’t part of the bushing kit (images below: Image 1 is what I need with repective wave washer, image 2 is not what I need). Despite having gone through the workshop schematics (although void of any useful part numbers) with said gentleman in parts and servicing, they’re unable to find this part on the parts list at Mazda. Would someone be able to give me a part number that I can pass on so I can get these part(s) ordered and I can escape this endless headless headache
. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.
Mike

I have just posted that I have a similar problem… Is the upper nylon bush for the larger ball difficult to change??? Don’t suppose there is a how to??
To which bushing would you be referring? The nylon bit within the recess on the ball or the ring that sits on top on the ball below the boot? But to answer your question neither are difficult to change, the bushing that sits on top of the ball can be a bit tedious because you need to (or at least I did) cut the boot off with a stanley knife but otherwise pretty simple.
I found the youtube video below which was quite helpful, it was what pointed out to me the bush I’d missed/hadn’t been supplied with. Hope this helps.

Have you got the kit from Autolink?? Does it come with the top half of the nylon cup on the gear-lever ball as well as the bottom half that goes in the top of the turret???
Sorry to reopen an old thread, I’ve just replaced the gearshift gaitor and bottom bushing as supplied by MX5 parts, I still have much the same left/right slack in the gearstick. My Mk2 had no plastic vertical guides as shown in picture 2 and it’s now apparent it should have.
Can anyone advise me of their proper name and where I may get some?
