Hi everyone, just popped back in to have a look at new threads/topics. RS Ltd for sale, I thought, brilliant I’ll have a look at the pics from the link. Thumbnails, so clicked on the first one, I was in the running for an iPad or something? couldn’t close it down, was offered the image hosting at many $$$$$$$$ in another box that relentlessly kept popping back onto the screen and so it went on in circles, did not get chance to view the pics
New member from italy, great introductory post with a couple of pics, looked interesting, clicked on the second pic, I found out that Slavic girls are the best and girls from other countries can’t wait to meet me? What’s going on? I’m 61 and happily married, don’t need an introduction to an Eastern bloc nymph thank you! I also already own an iPad which functions quite well too! This type of thing appears to be typical and really spoils things ( for me at least ) I’m not a fuddy duddy but if I wanted/needed any of the things on offer I’d seek them out myself. Needless to say, I didn’t get to see what I wanted to see. Certainly not blaming the OP’s for this but the hosting sites are atrocious! Is it just me?
Yes, I’ve heard that type of thing before? I’m sure you had a little smile to yourself when posting your reply? It happened over on Nutz with a particular member over gun oil? Folk had a jolly time ribbing him over it? This was not the reason for my post, I can manage to make a fool of myself without the help of others thank you! If I’ve been on mx5 parts or whatever previously, one or more of my searches has popped up in various places! so I understand this to a certain extent? Strange though really, when I’ve never searched for iPads or Slavic ladies As said, for me at least, just detracts from the whole experience. I remember many years ago when PVCu doors and windows started to replace the aluminium in wood subframe installs. We had the new type but were canvassed ( at the door ) by many budding sales folk wanting to offer us replacement doors and windows of the type we already had? They had to knock on the very type of door they were offering to sell me? I’ve never bought anything on that basis and would do my own research as best I can, then seek out relevant companies rather than they come to me initially? Oh well, didn’t bother to open your link in case that came back to haunt me. It just annoys me that I/we can be bombarded by this unsolicited stuff?
The less public info there is stored about you on the web the better, for many reasons - not the least being identity theft.
Dump your assorted media memberships and delete their histories, heresy I know in these socially web connected days, but remember they are primarily clever marketing tools and the user benefits are merely the bait on the hook.
Edit down the cookies stored in your computer to the essential ones (not many of those), and add a customisable ad-blocker to your browser and disable pop-ups in the browser.
Make sure your browser and virus checker have both activated the usual protection against nasty sites.
Then you’ll only get a few of the simpler more random ads.
Not so clever in many ways. I’m still seeing ads come up in front of me for an Mx5Parts oil filter removal tool. I in fact bought it months ago, and had merely visited
their site for that item recently, to check something. Hence the ads.
I’ve read that it’s predicted that the next financial problem in the UK might be all these ultra cheap PCP car financing loans.
And after that, globally, the multi-billion ‘Big Data’ industry that all these ads are for. Why ? Because essentially the industry is vapour.
