Imber village road is open.

The road from Warminister Garrison to Gore Cross via Imber, is now open to the public from 8am on Sunday, August 16 to 6pm Sunday, September 6. As this rarely opened road crosses a Army range do not stray from the road or pick up any souvenirs.

Without wishing to sound like a flash git I’ve bombed up and down this road loads of times in a helicopter and it truly is a great drive (not as much fun in a Landrover though!)

I recommend it to anyone that gets the chance; very pretty, unspoilt landscape. It might be a range but it’s also a protected area and full of things you won’t see every day, including pointy metal ones that go bang, best to leave these alone!
