immobiliser problems

Good afternoon all

When I bought my car, a MK1 S Special, it already had an Autowatch 239Ti immobiliser fitted. It has just stopped working ie I can’t start the car. I’ve tried the override code but I get the same result. I’ve trawled the internet looking for help but I can’t find anything other than to use the override code.

I can’t find any wiring diagrams to put things back together without the immobiliser either.

Are there any auto electricians out there with any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure it is an immobiliser fault?Does the light on the touch pad flash?Removing it from the car could be tricky as most of the wiring will be black. What part of the world are you?

hi missfire, i’m in norwich. the led on the dash does what it supposed to do. a couple of time recently the key has taken a couple of goes before the immobiliser has allowed me to start. yesterday, absolutely nothing and i’ve attempted the override ten times and more.

Sorry cannot help but I am interested to find a solution to this as I have the same immobiliser in my MK1 and luckily when I purchased my car it came with two transponders so at the moment I am OK.

One of my transponders did exactly the same as yours in that it would start after a couple of goes but then it just packed in, I spoke to Steve at Sam Goodwin about it and he was going to find out if I could get the transponders reprogrammed so will find out for sure next week.

Just looked on the Autowatch site and it looks like you can Get a new transponder for £40 and when you have put in the code it disarms the immobiliser and enters the program mode to tie the new transponder to the brain, you can find the code on the brain to check it is the same as the number you have but you can only get the program instructions when you purchase a new transponder.

That is what I make of it but could be wrong.

ok mate. thanks for all your input. if/as and when i get to the bottom of things i’ll up date this post or message you so you’ll know. reading everything i could find, i thought by puting the override code in it would dis-arm the immobiliser and let me start the car.

All sorted. I’d like to praise P & P auto electrical 40 roundtree way norwich. They came up as my local dealer on a google search. I was advised to find the alarm and by-pass what every had been cut into, normally the fuel pump and start circuit. Who ever installed my car’s immobiliser had got into the ignition, great. I tried by-passing using a couple of loops with spades soldered on but this didn’t work. Before i left they said these were very old systems and they hadn’t had any dealings with them for ages. They had a nos Autowatch 239Ti on the shelf which they sold me at cost!!

I did a straight swap and everything is working fine. Using the new system’s override code will let me start the car so I can only assume the old CPU was NFG.

I’ve even programmed the old fob from the old system to the new one and now have three fobs.
